2021-11 Recruitment Announcement for Researcher Position at the Center for Underground PhysicsThe Center for Underground Physics (CUP, http://cupweb.ibs.re.kr/html/cup_en/) at the Institute for Basic Science (IBS, http://www.ibs.re.kr/eng.do) in Daejeon, Korea invites applications for a master degree researcher position to work on AMoRE experiment. The AMoRE group is constructing AMoRE-II experiment at a new underground laboratory, Yemilab, in Korea. AMoRE is an experiment to search neutrino-less double beta decays of Mo-100 with ‘zero background’ molybdate crystals at ~ 10 mK temperature utilizing low temperature sensors and SQUID. A successful candidate is expected to help developing a crystal surface treatment program. The surface treatment includes cutting and coring of the crystal element from grown ingot, lapping and polishing of crystal surfaces, adopting and optimizing the equipment used for crystal surface preparation to minimize expensive material losses and to keep the crystal surface ultra-pure. Contract is initially for 2 years with extension of up to 3 years based on the evaluation of excellence, which can be terminated earlier when the center is closed. (The center has just passed its 8th year review and the next review is on the 11th year) The annual salary will be determined based on the ability and experiences of the applicant with the minimum annual salary of 32.7M KRW (~ 27.5k$) for the researcher. Personal Qualification:Candidates should have a Master’s degree in experimental separation or high purity substances chemistry and should have a research experience on work with isotopically modified materials. Experiences with isotope separation techniques will be advantageous. Application:Those interested should send their CV, a brief description of their research interests and plan, one recommendation letter, and Consent to Provide Personal Information(attached) by Jan. 7, 2022. For more information, candidates should contact Dr. Lee, Moo Hyun (mhlee@ibs.re.kr). Application documents should be sent to Ms. Lee, Soo A (cup_recruit@ibs.re.kr). Reference letters should be sent to Ms. Lee directly from the writers. |
