
About the Center
The Virus Research Resource Center, located within the Korea Virus Research Institute, supports infectious disease research by providing open lab procedures to assist domestic researchers in this field. The center offers infectious disease research services through access to core shared research facilities, advanced equipment, and expert personnel.
Areas of Support
The Virus Research Resource Center of the Korea Virus Research Institute supports researchers across various domains of infectious disease research.
- Research Facility Access: Use of BL-3 laboratories, ABL-3 laboratories, etc.
- Research Equipment Access: Fluorescence microscopes, ultracentrifuges, biological safety cabinets (BSC), airway resistance analysis systems (WBP, FlexiVent), individually ventilated cages, and more
- Infection Experiment Services: Cell and organoid-based infection studies, as well as animal model services using mice (hamsters, rats), avians, ferrets, etc.
Facilities and Equipment
- Facility Overview: Biosafety Level 3 (BL-3) research facility with 247.5 m² of lab space (550 m² including auxiliary facilities)
- BL-3 Facility Equipment: Fluorescence microscope, BSC, ultracentrifuge, deep freezer, CO₂ incubator, etc.
- ABL-3 Facility Equipment: Individually ventilated cages, BSC, and other infection analysis equipment
