IBS is a government-funded research institute established in 2011 with the purpose of leading the advancement of basic science in South Korea. We have successfully launched 31 research centers led by leading scientists and such a fruitful journey would have not been possible without continuous support from a group of our mentors called the Scientific Advisory Board(SAB).
SAB is a senior consulting body established to assist the IBS President by providing advice on matters related to the overall operation of the Institute. Responsibilities of the SAB members include but not limited to: 1) providing opinions and advice on research areas of the Institute; 2) recommending and endorsing candidates for the IBS Directorship; 3) publishing reports on research and the operational status of IBS, and 4) identifying and discussing issues that are critical for IBS' future.
The current SAB consists of 25 members including two Nobel laureates. Composed of eminent scholars from various academic fields not only science and technology but humanities and social sciences, the Board helps us develop our philosophies of excellence, autonomy, creativity, and openness.
We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude and appreciation for all of the hard work and dedication of our SAB members.
