Virus & Immunology Experts Gather in Korea- IBS-KAI-KSV Jointly Host the IBS Conference - - Cutting-edge research in viral immunology to be shared on December 11 to 12 - The Institute for Basic Science will host the “IBS Conference” featuring leading domestic and international experts in virology and immunology. Jointly organized by the IBS Korea Virus Research Institute, the Korean Association of Immunologists, and the Korean Society of Virology, the IBS-KAI-KSV Conference on Infection and Immunity will take place from December 11 to 12 at the Daejeon Convention Center with approximately 450 participants. More than 20 world-renowned speakers will deliver presentations, including: Joseph Sriyal Malik PEIRIS (University of Hong Kong), Richard WEBBY (St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, USA), Jae JUNG (Cleveland Clinic, USA), Arash GRAKOUI (Emory University, USA), KIM V. Narry (IBS Center for RNA Research). These global leaders in virology and immunology will discuss the latest findings across the field. Key presentations will cover topics such as pathogenesis and immune regulation in infections caused by coronaviruses, influenza viruses, and other pathogens, advances in vaccine and therapeutic development, and the latest research on innate and adaptive immune mechanisms, including T-cell responses. The conference aims to strengthen the global foundation for cooperation in infectious disease research — supporting early detection, rapid response, and preparedness for future pandemics. By sharing up-to-date scientific insights and fostering new international collaborations, the event is expected to contribute meaningfully to global infectious disease readiness. Director CHOI Young Ki of the IBS Korea Virus Research Institute, who is organizing the conference, stated: “Human infections with avian influenza viruses are increasing, and severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) cases continue to be reported both in Korea and abroad. Public concern about viral infectious diseases is rising. This conference will provide a valuable opportunity to share the latest research on virus-specific immune responses and disease mechanisms, and to discuss research strategies for preparing for future unknown infectious diseases.” Since 2013, IBS has hosted the IBS Conference series to strengthen global research networks and foster an environment for world-class scientific achievement. These conferences bring together leading scholars and researchers from Korea and around the world to share trends, exchange ideas, and develop collaborative research opportunities.
