IBS Runs ‘Anti-Corruption and Integrity Week’

- Include declaration ceremony and events with institute-wide participation -

The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) is turning its pledge for integrity into concrete action, taking the lead in building a trusted research environment. On Thursday, September 4, IBS held an Anti-Corruption and Integrity Declaration Ceremony to affirm its commitment, followed by a five-day Anti-Corruption and Integrity Week from Monday, September 8 to Friday, September 12.

At the declaration ceremony that opened the activities, IBS President NOH Do Young and senior executives pledged their commitment to transparent governance by reciting a declaration that included Compliance with regulations such as the ▲Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, ▲Prohibition of improper solicitations and personal interests, and ▲Eradication of power abuse and unfair work orders.

The subsequent Anti-Corruption and Integrity Week featured programs to raise awareness among all employees. Activities included ▲A “Integrity Concert” combining music and lectures, ▲A simultaneous, institute-wide campaign joined by leadership across IBS headquarters, the Rare Isotope Science Project, and 4 Research Institutes, and ▲An online “Integrity Golden Bell” quiz program

President NOH Do Young remarked, “What matters is that our pledge for integrity does not stop at slogans but translates into real behavioral change across the organization. Integrity is the foundation for research truthfulness and the basis for public trust. We will continue to foster a culture where integrity is naturally internalized and practiced by all members.”
