The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) has been selected as an Excellent Institution for Intellectual Property (IP) Management in 2025.

The award, first established in 2020, encourages revenue-focused IP management and recognizes universities and research institutes that have achieved outstanding results in intellectual property management over the past three years.

In this year’s IP management assessment survey of around 150 universities and public research institutes, IBS was selected as a candidate for the first time, and after undergoing both quantitative and qualitative evaluations, was ultimately named an Excellent Institution.

As a result of this recognition, IBS will receive the Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office Award as well as Intellectual Property Points that can be used for patent fees for up to three years.

Meanwhile, the awards ceremony was held on the 8th during the “2025 Government-wide Public Technology Transfer and Commercialization Roadshow,” an event aimed at promoting the transfer and commercialization of outstanding public technologies to the private sector.
