Director HYEON Taeghwan Appointed as International Member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) in the United States- Recognized for Developing the 'Hot-Injection Method' for Mass Synthesis of Nanoparticles - Director HYEON Taeghwan of the Center for Nanoparticle Research (pictured above) has been appointed as a new international member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). On February 7th, NAE announced that it would appoint 114 members (fellows) and 21 international members for 2024. Director Hyeon was appointed as a new international member along with Professor CHOI Won-Yong of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Director Hyeon's appointment was based on his contributions to the development of the 'hot-injection method,' which enables the mass synthesis of high-quality nanoparticles at low cost, and his research in the field of biomedical applications of nanomaterials. Before this year's new appointments, five Koreans have been included as international members of NAE: JIN Dae-Je, CEO of Skylake Inbest; JUNG Geun-Mo, advisor to the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO); KIM Ki-Nam, President of the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology; LEE Sang-Yup, Vice President of Research at KAIST; and KWON Wook-Hyun, Emeritus Professor at Seoul National University.
