Meeting between Quantum Science and Nanoscience Takes Place in Korea- IBS Center for Quantum Nanoscience Hosts the IBS Conference on Quantum Nanoscience from October 10 - The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) Center for Quantum Nanoscience presents the '2nd IBS Conference on Quantum Nanoscience' (ICQNS). The conference will take place from October 10th to 13th at the Ewha Campus Complex (ECC) on the campus of Ewha Womans University, hosting around 200 participants. ICQNS was planned to share the current state and future of quantum nanoscience, a field garnering global attention. Unlike its predecessor in 2019, this conference is distinctive in that it merges the realms of quantum science and nanoscience. The integration of these two fields is anticipated to shed new light on current challenges, considering that quantum science is a relatively emerging research area compared to nanoscience. The conference will feature 15 invited speakers from 10 countries worldwide, discussing topics such as approaches to designing the qubit, quantum spin on surfaces, and quantum dots. Notably, Director Andreas HEINRICH, a world-renowned scholar who pioneered the field, plans to lecture on 'Quantum-coherent Nanoscience.' Additionally, Professor Ying JIANG from Peking University will present on 'Qubit Research Using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM),' and Professor Andrea MORELLO from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Australia will speak on 'Spin Qubits.' Director Andreas HEINRICH expressed, "With the increasing global focus on quantum research investments, it became necessary to create a platform to discuss the current state and future of quantum nanoscience. This conference will serve as an opportunity for researchers worldwide to come together and design the future of quantum science." President NOH Do Young of the IBS, stated, "I hope this conference becomes a catalyst for overcoming the traditional limits by converging quantum science and nanoscience." IBS Public Relations Team |
