Postdoctoral Research Associate Positions at the IBS Center for Geometry and PhysicsThe IBS Center for Geometry and Physics (IBS-CGP) invites applications for several postdoctoral research associate positions. IBS-CGP is working to bring the world’s leading scientists in mathematics together with young researchers to collaborate on research projects with passion and commitment. To this end, the center recruits based on scientific excellence and creative ideas, rather than pre-determined goals or demonstrated practical outcomes. IBS-CGP provides an open and autonomous research environment. The existing members of the center are working in symplectic geometry, geometric topology, dynamical systems, algebraic geometry, number theory, and mathematical aspects of quantum field and string theory. In addition to the current research areas, candidates of all areas of mathematics and theoretical physics are welcome. IBS-CGP is located on the campus of Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in Pohang, South Korea. Successful candidates for postdoctoral research associate positions will be new or recent Ph.D.‘s with outstanding research potential. Those who apply for this position should not have exceeded 5 years after obtaining the doctoral degree or should expect to obtain the doctoral degree within 3 months from the appointment start date. These non-tenure-track appointments will be for one year and the salary is no less than KRW 50,000,000. These appointments are non-renewable. The start date is September 1st, 2021. These are purely research positions, and postdoctoral research associates will have no teaching duties. IBS-CGP offers annual research travel expenses in addition to basic research equipment and comprehensive benefits including medical and travel insurance and retirement fund. A complete application packet should include:

Recommendation letters forwarded by an applicant will not be considered. IBS encourages applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds. IBS-CGP Website: http://cgp.ibs.re.kr. Support Systems for International ResearchersRoughly one-third of all researchers at IBS are from overseas. These international researchers have three support options to adapt to life in Korea. First, IBS supplies a 24/7 service called the Global Help Desk which offers personalized help via email and phone and provides newsletters. Second, IBS created its own support website called Living in Korea with hundreds of pages of contents and hundreds more pictures. Third, every Center has several admin staff who help with a number of work and non-work situations. For more information on these support options, please see the related page on Living in Korea at https://centers.ibs.re.kr/html/living_en/overview/support.html |
