The fourth annual “Art in Science” exhibition, one of the flagship IBS programs for science-art convergence, was held at the Exhibition Hall of the IBS Science Culture Center, from September 17 to December 28, 2018 (except on Mondays). At the opening ceremony held on September 17, IBS researchers introduced their works of art to the audience.

The 2018 IBS Art in Science was an occasion where scientists could share the wonderful moments of their experiments with the audience. The exhibition was very meaningful in that it had been solely held at the IBS headquarters for the first time and that IBS researchers had participated in the event as artists. During the three-month period of the exhibition, about 3,000 visitors, including scientists and the general public, appreciated the beautiful meeting of science and art.

Co-hosted by IBS and the Daejeon Museum of Art (DMA), the Art in Science exhibition focused on life sciences in line with “Bio,” the theme of the Daejeon Biennale 2018. Under the subtitle “Infinite Loop: Life, Change and Continuity,” the exhibition showcased scientists’ views on the nature, phenomenon, and beauty of life. Furthermore, the exhibition unfolded the strange and mysterious world of materials as observed by scientists.
