<The 5th IBS Art in Science>

The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) presents the fifth annual exhibition of Art in Science. Art in Science is a project where scientists share artistic moments they captured in the course of research with the general public. What makes this year’s exhibition more significant is that it is held in commemoration of the grand opening of the IBS Science Culture Center, a place where scientists engage with the public.

As the theme of the exhibition suggests, Scientists’ Eyes: Observation and Imagination, you will experience the world through the eyes of scientists. Observations are just the beginning of their scientific journeys. Scientific discoveries are made as they actively probe the world by coming up with hypotheses and theories and continuously testing them against new ideas and observations. The images presented at the exhibition are the results of that continuing process of observation and imagination generated by research underway at IBS.

This year’s exhibition also showcases special video clips that feature scientists who submitted the artwork on display. The videos tell us about their research, their art, and behind the scene stories. These interviews will help viewers to better engage with science in art forms. Explore and enjoy scientific knowledge, the aesthetic inspiration that each artwork presents, as well as scientists’ deeply imaginative stories behind their artwork.
