Director Cheon Jinwoo Wins International Achievement AwardDirector CHEON Jinwoo of the Center for Nanomedicine was honored with 2017/2018 International Alumni Award for Exceptional Achievement by University of Illinois.
The Award is given to the international Illinois alum who made a positive social impact through his/her contributions to government, science, or art. Established on the funds donated by Dr. Jagdish N. Sheth, the award is officially known as the Madhuri and Jagdish N. Sheth International Alumni Award for Exceptional Achievement. The university explained that professor Cheon has produced outstanding outcomes in the field of nanoparticle chemistry and explored a new research area by converging nanoscience and nanomedicine. The recipients were honored in the award ceremony at the university on April 4. Alumni, including chancellor Robert J. Jones of UI, president Jennifer Neubauer of UI Alumni Association, vice chancellor Andreas Cangellaris of UI, and interim vice chancellor for research Susan Martinis of UI, attended the ceremony to congratulate the awardees. Dr. Cheon received his PhD at University of Illinois in 1993. He currently teaches as a distinguished professor at Yonsei University and is also the director of the Center for Nanomedicine at the Institute for Basic Science.
