6 IBS Researchers named as recipients of the 2016 Korean Physical Society Prize - IBS further establishes itself as a hub for cultivating young researchers in physics - The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) produced 6 winners of the 2016 Korean Physical Society (KPS) Prize; the award ceremony was held at the Daejeon Convention Center on April 20 during the KPS 2016 spring symposium which coincided with the 92nd annual regular meeting of the society. Twelve prizes were awarded to scientists in ten categories. Among the 7 categories for outstanding young researchers in physics, IBS swept 6 categories, which demonstrates IBS’s contribution to nurturing young physicists in Korea. The following is the list of the awardees.
IBS president KIM Doo-Chul said, “I sincerely congratulate all the young IBS researchers on winning prizes. IBS, with a sense of responsibility, will continue to focus on nurturing young researchers who will lead the future of Korea’s basic science.” IBS plans to select 50 young research leaders by 2021 to cultivate them as key players of major research institutes and universities through newly introduced YSF (Young Scientist Fellowship).
