About the chief investigator of the Planetary Atmospheres Group (PAG) Lee Yeon Joo
Yeon Joo Lee studied atmospheric sciences for her B.S. and M.Sc. She started her research on the atmosphere of Venus during her Ph.D. project at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Germany. She has been involved in several space missions, such as European Space Agency(ESA)'s Venus Express, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency(JAXA)'s Akatsuki, ESA-JAXA's BepiColombo, and ESA's future Venus orbiter EnVision. She came to Korea to set up PAG at IBS.
PAG is a planetary atmosphere research group with an emphasis on the atmosphere of Venus. We analyze space- and ground-based observations to better characterize atmospheres on Venus. With our collaborators, we plan to develop an Earth-orbiting CubeSat mission that will acquire data from ultraviolet to near-infrared wavelengths, which will be compared with ground-based measurements. When future Venus missions will be operational, our Venus monitoring system will provide high-quality time series of the global view over a range of wavelengths.
