BIMAG welcomes 2026 summer interns! BIMAG이 2026년 여름 인턴들을 환영합니다!
This summer, a total of 24 summer interns have joined IBS BIMAG.
They come from a wide range of universities in Korea and abroad, including KAIST, Korea University, Yonsei University, Seoul National University, Chung-Ang University, Ajou University, Pukyong National University, Kyonggi University, Chungnam National University, Inha University, Seoul Women’s University, Carnegie Mellon University, Rice University, Brown University, UCLA, the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and the University of Malawi.
Their academic backgrounds are equally diverse, spanning mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, life sciences, mechanical engineering, chemical and biomolecular engineering, and more.
This year’s internship projects are just as exciting. A major research theme focuses on sleep, circadian rhythms, and wearable data, including topics such as sleep disorder classification using wearable data, analysis of sleepiness and circadian rhythms in shift workers, early detection of mood disorders from sleep patterns, and alertness prediction.
Another major area of research centers on data-driven dynamical systems and mathematical modeling. Projects include inferring dynamics from snapshot data, data-driven discovery of dynamical equations, physics-informed neural networks, weak-form sensitivity analysis, and discovering differential equations using causal relationships.
In addition, the interns will explore a variety of biomedical mathematics topics, including enzyme kinetic models, experimental design for time-dependent inhibition, bursty gene expression models, dengue transmission, mortality prediction, and foundation models for biosignal reconstruction—bringing together mathematics and AI to better understand complex biological phenomena.
Although the summer is short, we hope it will be a rewarding time for everyone to explore a wide range of problems in biomedical mathematics, drawing on their diverse backgrounds and curiosity.
It looks like another inspiring summer awaits us at IBS BIMAG.
올해 여름 IBS BIMAG에 총 24명의 Summer Intern이 함께하게 되었습니다.
