Dr. Daeil Jang has joined our group as a postdoctoral fellow. He earned her Ph.D. in Statistics from Hanyang University and previously served as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institute of Mathematical Sciences (NIMS). His research expertise spans data analysis, explainable AI, and statistical modeling. Welcome!
We are delighted to welcome back Dr. Pan Li, a former senior researcher at BIMAG, who is visiting the group this summer as a visiting scholar.
Dr. Pan Li is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine, Zhejiang University. The scope of his research includes computational biomedicine, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiotoxicity, and circadian rhythms.

On July 28th, 2026, Dr. Hyukpyo Hong from the University of Wisconsin-Madison gave a talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Seminar. The title of his talk was “Global Linearization of Nonlinear Dynamics via Koopman Operators: A Gentle Introduction, Applications, and Open Challenges.”




Dr. Smita Deb has joined our group as a postdoctoral fellow. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Indian Institute Of Technology–Ropar and previously served as a postdoctoral researcher at the School or Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering at Arizona State University. Her research expertise spans uncertainty quantification, forecasting, mathematical modeling for nonlinear complex systems, eco-evolutionary dynamics, disease dynamics, reduced-order modeling, and climate and ecosystem applications. Welcome!

On July 24th, our post-doc researcher Seongjin Choi gave a talk on a paper “Topology identifies concurrent cyclic processes in single-cell transcriptomics and androgen receptor function” at the Journal club.
Myna Lim, a Master’s student in the Department of Data Science at KAIST, received the Best Poster Award at the 14th European Conference on Mathematical and Theoretical Biology (ECMTB 2026), held at the University of Graz in Graz, Austria, from July 13 to 17, 2026. Congratulations!

Professor Jae Kyoung Kim (CI), Dr. Yun Min Song, and graduate student Dongju Lim delivered oral presentations. Graduate students Olive R. Cawiding, Hyeongjun Jang, Kangmin Lee, Myna Lim, Hyunji Jeong, Sejun Ahn, and Seunghun Lee, together with intern Taekwan Kim, presented their research through poster presentations.
