Welcome the new graduate student researchers who have joined BIMAG. 2026년 가을학기부터 BIMAG에 새롭게 합류한 대학원생 연구원 이승훈, 전용진, Yin ZhenYu 학생을 환영합니다.

We welcome graduate student researchers Seunghun Lee, Yongjin Jeon, and ZhenYu Yin, who have newly joined BIMAG starting in the Fall 2026 semester.

Seunghun Lee (left) graduated from the Department of Mathematics in Chung-Ang University (중앙대학교) and has entered the M.S. program in the Department of Mathematical Sciences in KAIST. Yongjin Jeon (center) graduated from the Department of Mathematics in Ajou University (아주대학교 수학과) and has entered the M.S. program in the Department of Mathematical Sciences in KAIST (KAIST 수리과학과 석사과정). ZhenYu Yin (right) graduated from Minzu University of China with a B.S. in Information and Computing Science, and has entered the Integrated M.S.–Ph.D. Program in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at KAIST.

We warmly welcome them to BIMAG and wish them a rewarding and successful graduate experience ahead.

이승훈 학생(왼쪽)은 중앙대학교 수학과를 졸업하고 KAIST 수리과학과 석사과정에 진학하였습니다. 전용진 학생(가운데)은 아주대학교 수학과를 졸업하고 KAIST 수리과학과 석사과정에 진학하였습니다. Yin ZhenYu 학생(오른쪽)은 중국 Minzu University of China에서 Information and Computing Science 전공으로 학사학위를 취득한 후, KAIST 수리과학과 석박사통합과정에 진학하였습니다.

Tae-gi Min gave a talk titled “수학이 공학의 언어라면 (If Mathematics Is the Language of Engineering)” at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Seminar. 민태기, IBS Biomedical Mathematics Seminar에서 “수학이 공학의 언어라면” 주제로 강연

On August 17th, 2026, Director Tae-gi Min, author of 조선이 만난 아인슈타인 (Einstein Meets Joseon) and 판타 레이 (Fanta Ray), gave a talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Seminar. The title of his talk was “수학이 공학의 언어라면 (If Mathematics Is the Language of Engineering).”

2026년 8월 17일, 조선이 만난 아인슈타인과 판타 레이의 저자인 민태기가 IBS Biomedical Mathematics Seminar에서 강연을 진행했습니다. 강연 제목은 “수학이 공학의 언어라면”이었습니다.

BIMAG Members Participate in the A3 Foresight Workshop: Beyond Data – Synergy between Mathematics and AI. BIMAG 멤버들, A3 Foresight Workshop: Beyond Data – Synergy between Mathematics and AI 참가

BIMAG members participated in the A3 Foresight Workshop: Beyond Data – Synergy between Mathematics and AI, held at the IBS Science Culture Center from August 9 to 12, 2026.

Professor Jae Kyoung Kim (CI) delivered a talk entitled Beyond Data-Driven Learning: Mathematical Continuation for Robust Scientific AI and several graduate students and summer interns presented their work through poster presentations. In particular, BIMAG summer interns Dongwoo Won and Jungmin Kim received Outstanding Poster Presentation Awards for their work.

BIMAG 구성원들이 2026년 8월 9일부터 12일까지 IBS 과학문화센터에서 개최된 A3 Foresight Workshop: Beyond Data – Synergy between Mathematics and AI에 참가했습니다.

김재경 CI는 “Beyond Data-Driven Learning: Mathematical Continuation for Robust Scientific AI”라는 제목으로 강연을 진행했으며, 여러 대학원생과 하계 인턴들이 포스터 발표를 통해 연구 성과를 소개했습니다.

특히 BIMAG 하계 인턴 원동우 학생과 김정민 학생이 우수한 연구 성과를 인정받아 Outstanding Poster Presentation Award(우수 포스터 발표상)를 수상했습니다.

Welcome our new Postdoctoral Fellow, Dr. Daeil Jang!

Dr. Daeil Jang has joined our group as a postdoctoral fellow. He earned her Ph.D. in Statistics from Hanyang University and previously served as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institute of Mathematical Sciences (NIMS). His research expertise spans data analysis, explainable AI, and statistical modeling. Welcome!

Welcome Back to Our Alumnus and Visiting Scholar, Dr. Pan Li

We are delighted to welcome back Dr. Pan Li, a former senior researcher at BIMAG, who is visiting the group this summer as a visiting scholar.

Dr. Pan Li is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine, Zhejiang University. The scope of his research includes computational biomedicine, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiotoxicity, and circadian rhythms.

Welcome back, Dr. Pan Li! We are delighted to have you with us again and wish you a productive and enjoyable visit.

On July 28th, 2026, Dr. Hyukpyo Hong from the University of Wisconsin-Madison gave a talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Seminar. The title of his talk was “Global Linearization of Nonlinear Dynamics via Koopman Operators: A Gentle Introduction, Applications, and Open Challenges.”
