On Oct 15th, 2025, Aiden Doherty from University of Oxford gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of his talk was “Developing time-series machine learning methods to unlock new insights from large-scale biomedical resources.”
On October 1, Professor Jae Kyoung Kim (CI) delivered a special lecture at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg for faculty and students. He is also scheduled to give consecutive lectures at the University of Pretoria on October 2 and at Stellenbosch University on October 3.

On Nov 1st, 2025, Heather Harrington from MPI-CBG gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of her talk was “Topological Data Analysis for Multiscale Biology.”

On September 26th, our student Myna gave a talk on the paper “Tackling inter-subject variability in smartwatch data using factorization models” at the Journal Club.
On September 24, Dr. Shingo Gibo received the Academic Encouragement Award from the Japanese Society for Chronobiology. It is the most important award for young chronobiologists in Japan. He is the first to receive it solely for theoretical work. Congrats!
On Sep 24th, 2025, Joshua Wiley from Monash University gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of his talk was “Sleep as part of the 24-hour day: Methods and Applications in Oncology.”
On September 19th, our student Aqsa gave a talk on the paper “SCassist: An AI Based Workflow Assistant for Single-Cell Analysis” at the Journal Club.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Fanpeng Song, a postdoctoral fellow at the Data Science Institute of Shandong University, China, who joined BIMAG this September as a visiting research fellow.
Dr. Song’s research focuses on network science, evolutionary dynamics, and stochastic processes, with particular expertise in evolutionary game theory and opinion dynamics. His work aims to uncover the evolutionary patterns underlying human cooperative behavior and opinion formation.
중국 산둥대학교 데이터사이언스연구소 박사후연구원인 Fanpeng Song 박사가 9월부터 BIMAG 방문연구원으로 함께하게 되었습니다.
