On Oct 29th, 2025, Luonan Chen from Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of his talk was “Dynamical data science and AI for Biology and Medicine.”
On September 24, Dr. Shingo Gibo received the Academic Encouragement Award from the Japanese Society for Chronobiology. It is the most important award for young chronobiologists in Japan. He is the first to receive it solely for theoretical work. Congrats!
On Oct 15th, 2025, Aiden Doherty from University of Oxford gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of his talk was “Developing time-series machine learning methods to unlock new insights from large-scale biomedical resources.”
On October 1, Professor Jae Kyoung Kim (CI) delivered a special lecture at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg for faculty and students. He is also scheduled to give consecutive lectures at the University of Pretoria on October 2 and at Stellenbosch University on October 3.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Fanpeng Song, a postdoctoral fellow at the Data Science Institute of Shandong University, China, who joined BIMAG this September as a visiting research fellow.
Dr. Song’s research focuses on network science, evolutionary dynamics, and stochastic processes, with particular expertise in evolutionary game theory and opinion dynamics. His work aims to uncover the evolutionary patterns underlying human cooperative behavior and opinion formation.
중국 산둥대학교 데이터사이언스연구소 박사후연구원인 Fanpeng Song 박사가 9월부터 BIMAG 방문연구원으로 함께하게 되었습니다.
Song 박사의 연구는 네트워크 과학, 진화 동역학, 확률 과정을 중심으로 하며, 특히 진화 게임 이론과 의견 역학(opinion dynamics)에 전문성을 갖추고 있습니다. 그는 인간의 협력 행동과 의견 형성의 진화적 패턴을 규명하는 연구를 수행하고 있습니다.
