On January 17th, 2024, Junil Kim from Soongsil University gave a talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Seminar. The title of his talk was “A Normative Framework Dissociates Need and Motivation in Hypothalamic Neurons.”
On February 8th, a total of 11 participants of the 2024 BIMAG Winter Internship had a time to present the outcomes of the projects they had been working on for the past month. Not only did all participants achieve excellent results, but they also delivered great presentations. Following the event, we had a meal together at the Daejeon 한우곰탕 restaurant.
지난 2월 8일, 총 11명의 2024 BIMAG Winter Internship 참여자들이 지난 한 달여 동안 진행한 프로젝트의 성과를 발표하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 모든 참여자가 훌륭한 성과를 냈을 뿐만 아니라 좋은 발표를 해주었습니다. 행사 직후 대전 한우곰탕 식당에서 함께 식사를 진행했습니다.

On January 23, 2024, Hyun Kim gave a talk at the 2nd Single Cell & Spatial Omics Workshop. The title of the presentation was ‘scLENS: Data-driven signal detection for unbiased scRNA-seq data analysis.’
On January 9th, 2024, Hyung Jin Choi from Seoul National University gave a talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Seminar. The title of his talk was “A Normative Framework Dissociates Need and Motivation in Hypothalamic Neurons.”
On January 3, 2024, Dr. Hyeontae Jo of BIMAG was awarded the IBS Outstanding Researcher Award. Congratulations!

Webpage for sleep disorder test: (Link)
Roughly 60% of adults are reported to experience sleep disorders, yet only about 6% consult with specialized medical professionals. The process of undergoing polysomnography for sleep disorder diagnosis is known to be cumbersome. However, now there’s an easier way to assess sleep disorders without such tests. On December 12th, BIMAG introduced a webpage for sleep disorder screening that eliminates the need for cumbersome tests. Shortly after the website’s launch, hundreds of people accessed the test per minute.
성인의 약 60%가 수면장애를 겪고 있다고 보고되지만, 전문의와 상담 비율은 약 6% 정도에 불과합니다. 수면장애 진단을 위한 다원수면검사는 불편한 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 그러나 이제는 이러한 불편한 검사 없이 수면장애를 간편하게 테스트할 수 있습니다. 12월 12일, BIMAG에서는 불편한 검사 없이 수면장애를 스크리닝할 수 있는 웹페이지를 공개했습니다. 웹사이트가 공개된 직후, 분당 수백명이 사이트에 접속하여 테스트를 받은 것으로 집계되었습니다.
On Dec 11th, the Population Approach Group in Korea annual meeting took place at the IBS Science Culture Center. Numerous pharmacologists gathered to share their research, and CI Jae Kyoung Kim presented the study conducted at BIMAG.

On Dec 8th, 2023, Robyn P. Araujo from Queensland University of Technology gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of her talk was “Cellular cognition and the simple complexity of the networks of life.”
