On June 18, 2021, Sookkyung Lim from the University of Cincinnati gave a talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Seminar. The title of her talk was “Introduction to immersed boundary method for biofluids.” Moreover, she had passionate discussions with our group members!
During 13 – 18 June 2021, the annual meeting of the SMB was held online. Our group members gave seven presentations (1 Special SIAM Session, 2 Minisymposia, 1 Contributed talk, and 3 Posters).
Moreover, Seokjoo Chae and Yun Min Song were awarded poster presentation prizes. Congratulation!
On June 11, 2021, Hyukpyo Hong gave a talk on “DNA as a universal substrate for chemical kinetics” (Soloveichik et. al., 2010, PNAS)
On June 10, 2021, Andrew Phillips from the Monash University gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of his talk was “Towards individualized predictions of human sleep and circadian timing.”
On May 11, Hyukpyo Hong in our group gave a presentation introducing Mathematical Biology at the ‘Mobile science classroom (이동과학교실)’ hosted by the NRF(한국연구재단) as educational volunteering. His presentation was recorded and now is available on Youtube (only in Korean).
On 4 June, Dae Wook Kim in our group gave his Ph.D. defense presentation.
We hope his successful defense for his thesis!

On May 26, 2021, Jae Kyoung Kim gave an online talk at the SIAM Conference on Applications of Dynamical Systems. The title of his talk was “Mechanism for Robust Oscillations against Spatial-Temporal Noise in Intracellular Kinetics.”
On May 26, 2021, Ramon Grima from the University of Edinburgh gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of his talk was “Neural network aided approximation and parameter inference of stochastic models of gene expression.”
