On December 23, 2021, Dae Wook Kim from the University of Michigan gave a talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Seminar. The title of his talk was “Methods for characterizing circadian physiology from wearables”.
From December 16 to 18, BIMAG members participated in KSMB annual meeting and presented our research as an invited talk (Prof. Jae Kyoung Kim) and posters (Dr. Hyun Kim, Dr. Aurelio de los Reyes V, Dr. Bryan Hernandez, Seokjoo Chae, Hyukpyo Hong, Yun Min Song, Seho Park).

On December 10, 2021, U Jin Choi from KAIST gave a talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Seminar. The title of his talk was “The Graph Convolutional Networks (GCN) with Persistent Homology and its applications.” It was the third talk among the four serial talks.
On November 25, 2021, Ruth Baker from Oxford University gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of her talk was “Quantitative comparisons between models and data to provide new insights in cell and developmental biology.”
On November 26, 2021, Hyun Kim gave a talk on “A Random Matrix Theory Approach to Denoise Single-Cell Data”, Aparicio et al., Patterns, 2020
We had time to share the direction of the IBS BIMAG with leading mathematical biology researchers and to receive feedback.
CI Jae Kyoung Kim won ‘올해의 최석정상.’
‘올해의 최석정상’ (Choi Seok-jeong award in this year) is named after Choi, Seok-jeong who was a Korean politician and mathematician in the Joseon period of Korea. This award was established 2021 to give mathematicians credit for developing and applying mathematics or spreading mathematics culture.
