On May 8, 2023, Kyongwon Kim from Ewha Womans University gave a talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Seminar. The title of his talk was “On sufficient graphical models.”
On May 6th, CI Jae Kyoung Kim gave a public lecture titled, ‘The Usefulness of Mathematics! The Beautiful Encounter of Mathematics, Medicine, and Life Sciences,’ at the Gyeongnam Mathematics Cultural Center, attended by over 2,200 high school students and teachers.

On May 1, 2023, Oleg Igoshin from Rice University gave a talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Seminar. The title of his talk was “Understanding Trade-offs in Biological Information Processing”
Dr. Pan Li (Senior researcher) joined our group on April 16, 2023.
Dr. Pan Li received his Ph.D. degree in Computational Biology from the University of Leeds and postdoctoral training at Washington University in St Louis (WashU) and the University of California San Diego (UCSD). Before joining our group, Dr. Li was a visiting research scientist at the Predictive Toxicology Branch, Division of National Toxicology Program (DNTP), National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). His research interests include multi-scale modeling of complex biological systems, excitable dynamics in neural and cardiac systems, spatiotemporal dynamics of Calcium signaling, and in-silico prediction of drug-induced arrhythmias.
On April 28, 2023, Hans P.A. Van Dongen from Washington State University gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of his talk was “Modeling the temporal dynamics of neurobehavioral performance impairment due to sleep loss and circadian misalignment.”

The paper titled ‘Beyond the Michaelis-Menten: Accurate Prediction of Drug Interactions Through Cytochrome P450 3A4 Induction’ written through collaboration with Professor Jung-woo Chae and Professor Sang Kyum Kim at Chungnam National University, has been selected as the cover and highlight article for the May issue of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics journal.
