On Nov 22nd, 2023, Alfio Quarteroni from Politecnico di Milano gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of his talk was “Physics-based and data-driven numerical models for computational medicine.”
On Nov 17th, 2023, Samuel Isaacson from Boston University gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of his talk was “Spatial Particle Modeling of Immune Processes.”
On Nov 10th, 2023, Matthew Simpson from the Queensland University of Technology gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of his talk was “Efficient prediction, estimation and identifiability analysis with mechanistic mathematical models.”
On November 10th, 2023, Seokjoo Chae gave a talk on “Uncertainty quantified discovery of chemical reaction systems via Bayesian scientific machine learning”
From Nov 2nd to 4th, members of BIMAG had the privilege of the 2023 KSIAM Annual Meeting held at Kimdaejung Convention Center, Gwangju, Korea. During the conference, every member had the chance to present their work and interact with accomplished applied/industrial mathematicians.

Dr. Brenda Lyn Gavina has joined our group as a postdoctoral fellow.
Dr. Brenda Lyn Gavina earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of the Philippines Diliman, specializing in mathematical modeling and control of the menstrual cycle as her research focus.
On Nov 1st, 2023, Eder Zavala from the University of Birmingham gave an online talk at the IBS Biomedical Mathematics Colloquium. The title of his talk was “Quantitative analysis of high-resolution daily profiles of HPA axis hormones.”
From October 17th to 18th, the HFSP Awardee’s symposium was held at the IBS Science Culture Center. CI Jae Kyoung Kim participated in the event’s committee and helped facilitate the event.

In a courtyard performance at the IBS building, Professor Jonathan Rubin and Professor Kwang-Yeon Choi showcased their musical talents. Professor Rubin took the stage with his trumpet, while Professor Choi strummed the guitar, treating the audience to a delightful musical experience. Their repertoire consisted of three songs, including Queen’s iconic “We Are the Champions.”
