From November 28 to 30, IBS BIMAG members and collaborators gathered to host the IBS BIMAG & KAIST Math Biology Lab Winter Workshop. (Workshop Website) The workshop provided an opportunity for BIMAG members and researchers from various fields to share their ongoing research and discuss and present plans for future projects.

From June 27 to 29, IBS BIMAG successfully hosted the KSMB-SMB Satellite Workshop: Tutorials for Recent Advances in Methods of Biomedical Mathematics.

지난 6월 27일부터 29일까지 IBS BIMAG에서 KSMB-SMB Satellite Workshop: Tutorials for Recent Advances in Methods of Biomedical Mathematics 행사를 성공적으로 개최했습니다.

Six distinguished researchers gave lectures on fundamental topics and the latest results and methodologies in various fields of mathematical biology.

총 6분의 뛰어난 연구자들이 수리생물학의 여러 분야에 대한 기본적인 내용과 최신 결과 및 방법론에 대해 강연해 주셨습니다.

Additionally, on the first day of the event, there were a total of 35 poster presentations during the poster session.

더불어 행사 첫날 포스터 세션에서는 총 35편의 포스터 발표가 있었습니다.

On the last day of the event, during the excursion, we had an enjoyable time touring Gongsanseong Fortress and the Tomb of King Muryeong.

행사 마지막 날의 Excursion에서는 공산성과 무령왕릉 등을 관광하며 즐거운 시간을 보냈습니다.

On January 23, 2024, Hyun Kim gave a talk at the 2nd Single Cell & Spatial Omics Workshop. The title of the presentation was ‘scLENS: Data-driven signal detection for unbiased scRNA-seq data analysis.’

Mahammad Yusifov, Abbas Abbasli, Hyeongjoon Jang at KAIST, and Joo Young Park at Seoul National University College of Medicine joined the BIMAG Winter internship as undergrad interns.

On 26 December 2022, a kick-off workshop for IBS BIMAG Winter Internship was held. Seven internship participants presented their research topic.

지난 12월 26일, IBS BIMAG 겨울 인턴십 참여자를 위한 킥오프 워크샵이 열렸습니다. 총 7명의 인턴십 참가자들이 연구주제에 관해 발표하고 함께 논의하는 시간을 가졌습니다.

On 21st December 2022, BIMAG members participated in IBS-Sungshin Workshop. Students from IBS BIMAG and the behavioral sciences and therapy laboratory at Sungshin university presented their ongoing projects.

지난 12월 21일, 우리 그룹 연구원들이 IBS-성신여대 합동 워크샵에 참가했습니다. IBS BIMAG 소속 송윤민, 임동주 학생과 성신여대 행동과학과 심리치료 연구실 소속 조아영, 송지운 학생이 각자 진행중인 프로젝트에 대해서 발표를 진행했습니다.

On 19 December 2022, a mini-workshop was held featuring some of the current trends in pure and applied mathematics. (title: Mini-workshop on Recent Trends in Pure and Applied Mathematics).

Several faculties from the Institute of Mathematics, University of the Philippines Diliman were invited to share their academic group’s ongoing research. Prof. Seunggyu Lee (Korea University), Dr. Dae Wook Kim (University of Michigan), and Dr. Soyoung Kim gave talks on the said activity. In addition, some BIMAG members presented their current research projects.

지난 12월 19일, 순수/응용 수학분야의 최근 연구 동향을 공유하는 워크샵이 열렸습니다. (행사명: Mini-workshop on Recent Trends in Pure and Applied Mathematics )

다수의 University of the Philippines Diliman 수학과 교수진을 초청해 각 연구 그룹에서 진행중인 연구 내용을 공유하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 고려대학교 이승규 교수님, 미시간대학교 김대욱 박사님, NIMS 김소영 박사님께서도 연구 결과에 대해서 발표해주셨습니다. 또한, 저희 ibs 의생명수학그룹원들도 현재 진행하고 있는 프로젝트에 대해서 발표하는 시간을 가졌습니다.

On 22 August 2022, an interdisciplinary workshop was held with mathematicians, statisticians, physicists, life scientists, and medical scientists (title: Big data analysis for complex biological systems workshop).

Professor Jaewoo Park from the Department of statistics and data science, Yonsei University gave a talk titled “A Bayesian Convolutional Neural Network-based Generalized Linear Model,” and Professor Il-Youp Kwak from the Department of applied statistics, Chung-Ang University gave a talk titled “Reconstructing Single Cell Lineage Trees from CRISPR recorders by Distance-based Methods.”

Furthermore, seven young researchers from ibs BIMAG and Professor Jong-Eun Park’s lab in KAIST presented talks about 1) sleep data acquired from smart watches, 2) gene transcription dynamics data analysis, and 3) single-cell sequencing analysis.

지난 8월 22일, 수학자, 통계학자, 물리학자, 생명과학자, 의학자가 모인 학제간 워크샵이 열렸습니다 (행사명: Big data analysis for complex biological systems workshop).

연세대 통계학과 박재우 교수님께서 “A Bayesian Convolutional Neural Network-based Generalized Linear Model”을 주제로, 중앙대 통계학과 곽일엽 교수님께서 “Reconstructing Single Cell Lineage Trees from CRISPR recorders by Distance-based Methods”를 주제로 강연 해주셨습니다.

또, 저희 ibs 의생명수학그룹과 KAIST 의과학대학 박종은 교수님 연구실에서 온 7명의 젊은 연구자들이 1) smart watch에서 측정된 수면 데이터 분석, 2) gene transcription dynamics 데이터 분석, 3) single cell sequencing 분석에 관한 발표를 진행하였습니다.

2022년 6월 3일 금요일 오후 4시 논문 글쓰기 워크샵이 ibs 본원 이론동 1층 B109호에서 진행되었습니다.

논문 글쓰기 워크샵은 1부 성균관대학교 원병묵 교수님의 “논문 작성 원리: ABC 논문 작성법”과 2부 부산교육정책연구소 박영민 박사님의 “영어 논문 쓰기: 두려움을 성취로 바꾸는 길 / 불편함을 설렘으로 바꾸는 길” 로 나누어 진행되었습니다.
