2022년 10월 29일 토요일 오후 2시, 우리 그룹 CI 김재경 교수님이 “오늘의 과학자가 내일의 과학자를 만나다”라는 의미의 <10월의 하늘> 행사에서 “수학을 왜 배워야할까요? – 복잡한 생명현상을 위한 21세기 현미경, 수학!”이라는 제목으로 강연을 진행했습니다.
2022년 10월 21일 (금) – 22일 (토) 양일간 열리는 군산대학교 기초과학축제에서 김재경 교수님이 “수학을 왜 배워야할까요? – 복잡한 생명현상을 위한 21세기 현미경, 수학!”이라는 제목으로 기초과학 강연을 진행합니다. 교수님의 강연은 10월 22일 오전 11시에 진행됩니다.
From 21 October 2022 to 22 October, the Kunsan University Natural Science Festival will be held. Our group CI, Jae Kyoung Kim will give a public lecture, titled, “Why should we learn mathematics? – the 21st-century microscope for complex biological phenomena, mathematics!”. The talk will begin at 11 AM, 22 October.

Olive Cawiding (Graduate student) has joined our group.
Olive Cawiding is a graduate student at the department of mathematical sciences, KAIST.
She has got her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the department of mathematics at University of the Philippines Baguio.
She is a Hyundai motor Chung Mong-koo foundation global scholarship awardee.

On July 9, Yun Min Song received a research presentation award at the 2022 Korean Sleep Research Society Conference for his presentation: Effective sleep-wake patterns for shift workers based on a biomathematical model of alertness. Congratulation!
지난 7월 9일, 송윤민 학생이 2022년 대한수면연구학회 정기학술대회에서 우수 학술상을 수상하였습니다. 발표 제목은 ‘각성도 수리모델에 기반한 교대근무자를 위한 효과적인 수면 패턴’이었습니다. 축하합니다!
Dr. Won Chang has joined our group as a visiting research fellow.
Dr. Won Chang is an assistant professor in Statistics, A&S Mathematical Sciences, the University of Cincinnati. His research interests are High-dimensional spatial data analysis, Non-Gaussian spatial data analysis, Data-driven simulation of climate processes, Computer model emulation and calibration, Composite likelihood, Statistical methods in environmental science, Bayesian inference, and Time series.
Dr. Jeungeun Park has visited our group.
Dr. Jeungeun Park is an assistant professor at the State University of New York at New Paltz. Her research topics are traveling waves, nonlinear conservation laws, chemotaxis, and flagellated bacteria. She will stay for three weeks. Welcome!
Minki Lee (Undergraduate researcher) has joined our group.
Minki is an undergraduate student at the department of mathematics, University of Michigan. His research project is ”Phase estimation of nonlinear state space model of the circadian pacemaker using the level set kalman filter.”
Awards
From May 13 to 18, BIMAG members participated in Society for Research on Biological Rhythms (SRBR) 2022 conference and presented our researches.
