  • ※ The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry and a strong interest in materials science and carbon materials. Initial projects will include targeting large area and uniform n-layer single crystal graphene films, such as centimeter or larger films that are uniformly 2-layer, and uniformly 3-layer, uniformly 4-layer, and so on. It is expected that generation of single crystal (hkl) metal foils from polycrystalline as-received metal foils (such as pure Cu, pure Ni, perhaps others), and then in some research paths, creating single crystal alloy foils such as Cu-Ni(111), and others, will be critically important to achieve single crystal graphene films through epitaxy; but the candidate might also find other routes to centimeter-scale single crystal and uniform n-layer graphene films. Mechanics at ~centimeter length scale (macroscale, not microscale) and particularly determination by measurement of Young’s modulus and tensile strength (fracture strength) of such films, including as a function of relevant parameters such as strain rate, temperature, and others, is a primary goal as well. Chemistry of such films, including their possible conversion to diamane films, will also be of interest (chemical functionalization of various types). Achieving such large-scale single crystal n-layer films without folds, wrinkles, of course without adlayers (reiterating: highly uniform thickness), is a primary aim. The candidate should have a demonstrated history of thinking for themselves, having strong self-initiative, an excellent work ethic, working well at times individually and at times with others, and speak and write English well.
  • • Senior Researcher: Research personnel with a doctoral degree, total appointment period available up to five years (e.g., 3+2 years), may be promoted to senior research fellow through a separate evaluation.
  • • Postdoctoral Research Associate: A position to conduct research training and research for a certain period of time to deepen research expertise and abilities. Those who do not exceed 5 years after obtaining their doctoral degrees, or those who are expected to obtain their doctoral degree within 3 months by the time of appointment. Total appointment period available up to three years (e.g. 1+2 years)
  • • Researcher: eligible to renew employment contract once after the initial term, and the total employment is up to five years.
  • ※ The employment contract will be maintained until the abolition of the Center, if the Center is determined to be abolished during the contract period.
