Proposal for a new post-doctorial researcher in CAPP

 

● Specification of proposed position

One non-tenure track researcher, mainly for the research with COMET experiment, with three years of initial contract with the possibility of two years extension depending on his/her performance. Salary and benefit will be highly competitive. Candidate should be able to start his/her position from May 2015 at the earliest, and no later than September 1st, 2015. 

 

Prerequisite

Ph.D in recent three years or Ph.D candidate with foreseen degree date no later than September 1st 2015 in experimental particle or nuclear physics is required. Experience in HEP electronics system, board design, FPGA programming and/or detector simulation with Geant4 is preferred. One will be highly qualified when having an experience on GLIB and/or FC7 boards for CMS pixel DAQ.

 

Research description in CAPP

A candidate is expected to work more than half of his/her FTE in COMET experiment. Detailed project will be the trigger board design and test utilizing Cherenkov and drift chamber hit information, and firmware development for master trigger system with GLIB or FC7 boards. A simulation study on trigger efficiency using Geant4 will be included. S/he may choose to participate any other research activities in CAPP for his/her remaining FTE.

 

Plan for publication of research results

A candidate will participate the physics result publication of Phase-I experiment of COMET, which is foreseen to be January 2017. Several technical publications on the background measurement of COMET Phase-I experiment are also foreseen.

Participating in research project in CAPP will provide possible chance for publication and research accomplishment. 

 

Plan for recruit

A complete open recruit is being considered. Full consideration will be given to the application before March 31, 2015, considering ~1 month recruit period. Late application will be also accepted when there is not any prior candidate and the application is fully qualified. Only CV will be requested at the time of application, and letters from at least three references will be requested for the qualified applicant only.

A remote and/or on-site interview will be organized in April 2015.

Final decision is supposed to be placed as soon as possible or May 2015 at the earliest.

The CAPP(Center for Axion and Precision Physics Research) group in IBS (Institute for Basic Science) in South Korea invites application for one non-tenure track post-doctorial researcher position, mainly for the research on COMET muon conversion experiment, with three years of initial contract with the possibility of two years extension depending on his/her performance. Candidate should be able to start his/her position from May 2015 at the earliest, and no later than September 1st, 2015.  Salary and benefit will be highly competitive.

The candidate will be expected to travel for short or long term to KEK or J-PARC in Japan and any other collaborating institute.

CAPP is research group in IBS in S. Korea, founded at 2013, for experimental Axion research. Around 20 PhD researchers are working, which is still increasing. We are also involved in various international precise measurement experiments, such as COMET at J-PARC, Muon g-2 at FNAL and J-PARC, and proton EDM experiment at BNL.
