Job Opening: Full-time English Science Communicator

Institute for Basic Science (IBS) is a newly established research institute in Korea under the Special Act on Development and Support of International Science and Business Belt. The national research institute aims to promote global scientific knowledge and foster next-generation science leaders. IBS is seeking a creative and professional English Science Communicator with an excellent ability in writing and editing Science documents and PR materials.

1. Position: English Science Communicator

2. Employment Type: Full-time(Contract-based worker)

3. Salary: Payment will be negotiated through an interview

4. Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 9AM-6PM

5. Requirements:

Applicants must

1) have at least bachelor’s degree or higher degree from an English-speaking country in English, journalism ( or Science majors)

2) have at least one-year experience working as an editor or writer at a research institute or an organization of similar nature

3) meet the criteria of eligibility for obtaining working visa set forth by the Korean Immigration Authority;

6. Job Description

1) Writing scientific press releases, distribution and follow-up on press releases

2) Editorial and writing for publications such as IBS Research Magazine and IBS PR and Research Materials

3) Have the ability to perform detail-oriented work under deadline pressure

4) Have the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks

5) Candidate will be expected to work principally on public relations but to work flexibly with other tasks of the department

7. Required Documents

1) Resume and Cover letter (or a letter of self-introduction)

2) IBS Employment Application Form

3) Photocopies of degree(s) / certificate(s)

4) Photocopy of passport (photo page)

5) Photocopy of Alien Registration Card (in case you already reside in Korea)

6) A letter of recommendation (one from your former employer if possible)

7) Writing Samples

NOTE: Candidates must be prepared to submit additional documents such as certificates of employment (from former employers) and photocopies of official academic transcripts at a later stage.
