Metropolis shows a stark contrast between the above-ground elite and the subterranean working class. In the movie, the son of the city’s master meets the underworld workers’ prophet Maria and she motivates him to become a mediator who reconciles his father and the workers. While some critics accuse the film of containing Nazi and communist messages, Metropolis gives us an insight into the future of humanity and technology.
