Support Systems for International ResearchersAlmost one-third of all IBS researchers are non-Korean. These approximately 300 international researchers have three support options to adapt to life in Korea: 1. The Global Help Desk (GHD), a third-party, 24/7 service that offers personalized help through email and telephone, in addition to newsletters. More GHD information is available here but you will need to contact your Center’s admin staff to get their email address and phone number as they are only to assist international researchers in IBS Centers. 2. Created in house by international staff for international staff, the IBS’ Living in Korea website is a collection of information and support so you thrive, not simply survive. Based off of the rewritten 2019 book by the same name, this website is an expansion of the 160-page book into what is now 130 subsections, 650 pages, and 800 images. While the target audience is IBS employees, this resource is open to the public. The website will double in size during 2020 with new sections detailing driving, medical, family and expansions of the original content. See here for more information. 3. Center administration staff will help you with work and non-work situations. If you need some support, please talk to your Center’s administration staff. |
