2019 Military Service Exemption Position Available at the IBS CMCM (Synthetic Organic/Polymer Chemistry OR Theoretical Study of Carbon and Related Materials)The IBS Center for Multidimensional Carbon Materials (CMCM) at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) is seeking a synthetic chemist OR theoretician who wishes to apply for a Military Service Exemption Position. As a Synthetic Organic/Polymer Chemist working in the CMCM, you will apply synthetic chemistry knowledge to solve challenges that pertain to the preparation, identification, and purification of interesting small molecules and polymers. The position is part of a larger program aimed at novel carbon-containing materials (https://cmcm.ibs.re.kr/ Duties of the position include: (1) Planning and performing chemical reactions, including those that require inert atmospheres; To be successful, the following are required: •A Master of Science (M.S.) or higher (e.g., Ph.D.) degree in chemistry, polymer science, or chemical engineering; As a theoretician working in the CMCM, you will be responsible for one or more research projects that are carried in the Theory Group of the CMCM: •Multi-scale computational methods development for materials science The position is part of a larger program aimed at novel carbon-containing materials (https://cmcm.ibs.re.kr/). To be successful, the following are required: •A Master of Science (M.S.) or higher (e.g., Ph.D.) degree in physics, chemistry, materials science; Experience(s) in managing high performance computational (HPC) system(s) is a strong priority.
