※ We seek candidates for a tenure track position that tackles outstanding challenges at the intersection synthetic organic and synthetic macromolecular chemistry. The position will entail the preparation of novel macromolecular materials and related small molecules that are designed to facilitate the realization of new classes of carbon-based materials. As such, the candidate should have deep experience with: (1) a broad range of synthetic methodologies, (2) multi-step organic synthesis; (3) Schlenk and air-free techniques, (3) synthetic polymer chemistry, (4) photochemistry, and (5) relevant contemporary characterization and separation techniques including NMR spectroscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, thermal analyses, gel permeation chromatography, mass spectrometry, and medium pressure liquid chromatography. Ideal candidates will (1) be fluent in English, (2) have multiple years of experience working at the postdoctoral level, (3) have experience working in industry, (4) exhibit a strong motivation to work on projects rooted in the synthesis and characterization of new macromolecules and other materials that are related to novel carbons, and (5) be expected to mentor junior team members.

1. Types of Employment
- ‣ Tenure-track
- Eligible for a tenure* review if certain requirements are met after employment
- ‣ Non-Tenure track
- Not eligible for a tenure* review, employment ends with the expiration of the employment contract * Tenure guarantees employment until the age of 65 without renewals of contracts.
2. Terms and Conditions
- - Employment under a contract of which initial term is maximum five years (not applicable to tenured researchers)
3. Tenure-track
- - Ipso facto resignation after a maximum of seven years of employment
- ‣ Tenure Review
- If those in tenure-track research positions have met certain requirements, the Personnel Committee for IBS Research Centers conducts a tenure review on whether to appoint them as tenured researchers.
- ‣ Second Review and Resignation
- Those who fail to obtain tenure must leave when their employment term ends but may be granted limited opportunities for a second review.
4. Non-Tenure track
- - Ipso facto resignation after a maximum of five years of employment
