      Undergraduate Research Interns<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      We are seeking undergraduate intern applicants to research with us. This program is recommended for students who:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Students who want to experience research experience before entering graduate school<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      2. Students who want to apply mathematics, statistics, and physical theories to biomedical science problems<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Depending on the biomedical mathematics background, it is divided into 1) individual research, 2) supportive research, and 3) participating in research after studying the Journal Club course. For the case of 1) and 2), monthly financial support will be provided. I strongly recommend the KAI-X<\/a> intern program for those who come from outside of Korea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        “Participating as an intern at the IBS Biomedical mathematics group is one of the most prestigious research experiences an undergraduate student can have. My experience with the Biomedical mathematics group was an invaluable experience that will be a strong foundation for my future research career.<\/em>

        One of the merits of this internship is that it allows undergraduates to get hands-on experience in research projects. In many labs, undergraduate students often participate in research projects in limited ways. They often simply \u201cassist\u201d graduate students or post-docs in performing their own research, completing simple-minded and trivial tasks that do not require much scientific reasoning. However, at IBS Biomedical mathematics group, undergraduate students get to contribute to research projects more holistically. Students can work with mentors to design their study topic, perform the research, and practice science communication skills by writing the manuscript. Mentors and professor are easily accessible and supportive, and a weekly meeting with them is a chance to develop new scientific insights.
