In the year 2029, a mysterious hacker, the “Puppet Master”, invades networks, steals information and manipulates humans by implanting fake memories into their brains. Major Motoko KUSANAGI, leading an intelligence unit combatting terrorism, discovers the Puppet Master is actually a sentient program. Rather than confronting against the Puppet Master, Kusanagi choose to merge with it re-born.
