1. AWARDING CATEGORIES

• Science- Those who have made outstanding achievements in research in the area of basic science
• Engineering- Those who have made outstanding achievements in the areas of engineering and technology
• Medicine- Those who have made outstanding achievements in the areas of medicine and pharmacy
• The Arts- Those who have made outstanding contributions to culture and the arts through creative activities, exhibition and research in relevant areas
• Community Service- Those who have made outstanding achievements in the area of social service and thereby contributed to the enhancement of public welfare
  * The Prizes are awarded to people of Korean heritage.The Prize in Community Service, however, can also be awarded to foreigners who have made outstanding contributions to Korea and Koreans at home and abroad.
  * The Prize in each category consists of a certificate, a gold medal(187.5g) and 300 mil. Korean won.
  In principle, prizes are awarded to one individual. However, more than two people may share the same prize if their accomplishments are deemed to be equal in merit.

2. NOMINATORS

• The following persons are eligible to nominate candidates:
• - Board members of the Ho-Am Foundation
• - Members of the Ho-Am Prize Committee and former Screening Committees
• - Recipients of the Ho-Am Prize or other Prizes with international reputation
• - Experts or individuals holding established position in academia, associations, or organization

3. CANDIDATE NOMINATIONS

• Nominators may nominate candidates by using the on-line nomination systems of the Ho-Am Prize website.
  Nominations may also be submitted by downloading nomination forms and sending them by mail or on a file by E-mail(hoam.foundation@samsung.com).

• - Nomination Deadline : Oct. 31, 2016
• - The winners of the 2016 Ho-Am Prizes will be announced in major Korean dailies in April 2017.
• - The Ho-Am Prize Award Ceremony will be held on June 1, 2017.

• - In Science, Engineering and Medicine : 1 representative paper and within 5 related papers
• - In The Arts and Community Service : Documentation approving accomplishments
